Madhu Purnima Kishwar, born in 1951 in Delhi, hails from a family deeply affected by the Partition of India. Her father’s family originated from Lahore, while her mother’s lineage traced back to the Peshawar and Rawalpindi districts. During the 1947 tribal invasion of Kashmir, her mother was airlifted from Srinagar to a refugee camp in Delhi, underscoring the profound upheavals her family endured during that period.
